Difficult Conversations

Planning and navigating challenging conversations with employees, parents, and colleagues. The conversation you keep rescheduling is usually the one that matters most — these tools help you walk in prepared and walk out with a clear path forward.

Leadership Under Pressure

CALM Leadership resources and tools for intentional decision-making. The hard moments don't schedule themselves — these are built for the middle of one, when the hallway is loud and you have about four seconds to decide what happens next.

Leadership Systems

Reducing repeated problems and improving consistency. If the same issue keeps landing on your desk, it isn't a people problem — it's a systems problem. These tools help you find where the process breaks down so you fix the cause instead of the symptom.

School Culture

Supporting trust, accountability, expectations, and consistency. Culture isn't a poster in the front hall — it's what adults do when something goes wrong. These reflection tools help you see the culture you actually have before you try to move it.

Communication

Tools for how administrators communicate with staff — planning what you'll say, running meetings that respect people's time, and checking whether the message that left your office is the one that arrived.

Parent & Community Situations

Navigating challenging parent communication and community concerns. Most complaints don't escalate because of the original problem — they escalate because what came after it was unclear, late, or inconsistent. Resources for this category are in development.

What would actually be useful here?

This section is being written next, and it's better to build what school leaders are genuinely stuck on than to guess. Tell me the parent or community situation that takes up the most of your time — the first resource here will be the one administrators ask for most.

New Administrator Support

Practical resources for principals and assistant principals beginning administrative roles. Nobody hands you a map for your first year, and the learning curve is steep in public. These give you the roadmap most administrators have to build by getting it wrong first.

Questions About These Resources

Are these school leadership resources free?

Yes. Every resource in the Leadership Hub is free. Some download instantly with no form. Others are sent by email, which means entering your name and email address once. There is no payment and no trial anywhere in this section.

What free resources are available for principals?

The Hub covers seven areas: difficult conversations, leadership under pressure, leadership systems, school culture, communication, parent and community situations, and new administrator support. Resources include checklists, reflection tools, planning guides, and audits built for principals, assistant principals, and district leaders.

Can I use these with my staff or leadership team?

Yes. Most of these tools were built for team use — assessments to complete together, guides for running a debrief, and reflection questions for a leadership meeting. You can print them, share them with your administrators, and use them in professional development at your school or district at no cost.

Why do some resources ask for an email address?

The larger resources — multi-part tools with facilitator guides — are sent by email so they arrive together and so you're notified when they are updated or when new tools are added. Shorter one-page tools download immediately with no form at all.

Which resource should I start with?

Start with the problem rather than the file. Pick the category that matches what is taking your time this week. If you are not sure, the school systems reflection under Leadership Systems is the fastest way to identify where your biggest gap actually is.

Are new resources added?

Yes, regularly. New tools are added to these categories as they are built, and anyone on the email list is notified when something new goes up. If there is something you need that is not here, you can request it and it may become the next resource created.

What is the CALM Leadership Framework these tools use?

CALM stands for Control the Environment, Assess the Situation, Lead the Response, and Move Forward. It is a practical framework developed from real school leadership experience. Most resources here are built on it, so the language stays consistent as you move from one tool to the next.
